Baramulla: 50% crop production especially horticulture produce damaged due to hailstorm

BARAMULLA, JUNE 06: About 50% of the total crop production especially horticultural produce has been severely affected due to recent hailstorms in the district Baramulla.

Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Dr Nasir Ahmad Naqash wednesday conducted an extensive tour to various areas of the district to assess the damages to crops especially horticultural produce due to recent hailstorms.

The DC was accompanied by Assistant Commissioner Revenue Bashir Ahmad Bhat, concerned SDMs, Chief Horticulture Officer, officers from agriculture and other allied sectors besides representatives from concerned departments.

On the occasion, the DC visited various areas including Nehalpora, Shouch Palpora, Dangerpora, Wanigam, Kreeri, Wagoora and other affected places wherein he was briefed that about 50% of the total production has been severely affected. He issued on spot directions to the concerned to thoroughly assess the losses so that proper compensation is provided to the affected.

Meanwhile, the DC met several deputations who apprised him of post hailstorm scenario. He assured them that proper compensation will be provided to the affected adding that he will take up the matter with higher authorities on priority.
