Ganderbal: Day after body of the 43-year-old man was found in Ganderbal, police investigation has revealed that the murder took place over monetary dispute.
Addressing a press conference, SSP Ganderbal Fayaz Ahmad Lone said on June 1 , the father of the deceased namely Ghulam Ahmad khanday of New colony Shalabaugh approached the Police station kherbawani with a written application that his son namely Mohammad Yousuf Khanday son of Ghulam Ahmad Khanday of New colony Shalabugh was missing since May 31.
In this regard a missing report was filed in Police Station kheerbawani and searches were started, he said.
On June 2, police station received information that a dead was laying in the open field adjoining areas of village Chundina and Shalabugh.
A special team was established under the supervision of Dysp HQR Ganderbal Ashaq Hussain, the SSP said.
A police party headed by SHO kheerbawani was deputed to the spot and the body was recovered. The body was identified by the family members of the missing person..
After completion of medico-legal formalities, the body was handed over to the legal heirs of the deceased person.
In this regard, a case FIR NO.33/2018 U/S 364/302 RPC of police station Kheerbawani was registered and investigation was taken up.
During the course of investigation questioning of suspects was carried out in police station Kheerbawani, the SSP said.
During questioning one suspect namely Mohammad Shafi Magray son of Mohammad Sideeq Magray of Chundina “confessed to crime” and revealed a shocking murder mystery which was further corroborated by the technical team of the district, he said.
“The accused person had a financial dispute with the deceased person. The accused had borrowed Rs. 80,000 from the deceased person with a promise of paying him back within three months but failed to pay him back.”
The accused had the information that Mohammad Yousuf Khanday was visiting the Jammu and Kashmir bank branch Chundina on May 31.”The accused with a criminal intent asked (Khanday) telephonically to meet him at a predefined location in order to get Rs. 80,000 back.”
The duo, he said, met at the predefined location. “The accused person handed over his cheque book to (Khanday) and asked (him) to write a cheque on behalf of the accused person as the accused person is illiterate,” the SSP said.
The moment deceased person bowed down to write the check for himself, the accused person hit his hind brain portion with a large stone which was already kept there by the accused person.
“Khanday got unconscious. The accused person thereafter hit him several times on the head ,neck and chest.”
The accused person after getting the confirmation about the death of the deceased person took Rs 13,500, ATM Card, Adhar Card, Mobile Phone and Pan Card of the deceased.
“The accused then boarded a vehicle in Towheed chowk Ganderbal for Lal chowk Srinagar. After reaching lal Chowk , the accused boarded another vehicle for Pulwama where he abandoned the mobile phone of the deceased in order to mislead the investigation agencies.”
