Pulwama: Amid accusations that Army vandalized property at various places including damaging property, desecrating militants graves, ransacking militants house, Government forces tried to set ablaze house of an active militant with family inside sleeping in Gandibagh Kakapora of district Pulwama in the intervening night of May 30-31.
Family members say that Rashtriya Rifles from KaKapora camp targeted house of Adil @ waqas commando, an active militant of Jaish e Mohammad.
Tawseef Ahmad cousin brother of militant Adil, narrating the incident told INS that at around 12:30 am, he and his another cousin were sleeping in his house.
“He woke me up that is smelling kerosene. As we stood to check, masked men were throwing kerosene on doors and windows of the house,” Tawseef said.
The duo cousins woke up father of Adil, Ghulam Hassan, and as they were telling him that Army is putting kerosene on house, ‘flames erupted they had put the house on fire’.
“We raised hue and cry. The men in uniform left the place,” Tawseef narrates.
As they raised the alarm neighbours and villagers rushed to spot and to their surprise the Army had put all the efforts to collect dry hay and put it around house, shower kerosene on it and set it on fire.
“It is well planned effort to burn the house and kill the inmates,” angry villagers allege.
Locals rushed to help, fire and emergency services were called and the fire was doused.
“They put paddy grass near windows and doors so that fire doesn’t stop and people inside die of suffocation and are charred,” they accuse.
According to the family they even called the Station house officer, SHO, Kakapora, narrating the whole episode who declined coming to the place in the night and had told them that he will visit the place in the morning.
According to Tawseef, on Wednesday morning Army Casper passed through the place and the army men took pictures and made video’s of militant Adil’s house.
“We were surprised as to why are they filming the house, later in the evening they again patrolled the area,” Tawseef said, claiming that they returned in the dead of night to put the house they had filmed on fire.
“They had mapped the area before putting their plans to work,” he said.
Villagers filmed the aftermath of the incident as people jostle to douse the flames, accusing army of putting the house with inmates on fire.
Aadil Ahmad Dar went missing on March 19 this year, and had joined the JeM militant organization. Aadil was working as Mason, and has two brothers besides parents.
The incident comes within the much hyped and declared Ramadan ceasefire by the government of India.
The flimsy situation on ground doesn’t reflect any serious effort, as on Wednesday a NC leader’s house was attacked with grenade.
The leader later told INS that the grenade attacks are response to what forces are perpetrating on civilians on south Kashmir.
“Bohot Zyadti hai south mein,” he said.
On Wednesday the native village of Sameer Ahmad bhat @ Sameer Tiger, the slain militant, were shocked to see his grave vandalized and grave stone missing.
The villagers accused army for the incident and hurting religious sentiments.
“We thought Major Shukla might have died, so they are now coming for Sameer’s grave. They (Army) have gone mad,” resident there said.
Earlier house of HM militant Zeenat ul Islam was vandalized too among sixty other houses of his native village.
“We already know what they will tell you, we did not do it. But we also know exactly who did it,” villagers claim.
