Mehbooba Mufti, Hina Bhat among India’s 50 powerful women politicians

Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and Bharatiya Janata party Member Hina Bhat have made it to the top 50 powerful women politicians of India.
They have been named in a Hindi book titled ‘Bharatiya Rajneeti Ki 50 Shikhar Mahilayen’ authored by Dr Asshwine Shastri which was release by Vice President of India M Venkaiah Naidu on Tuesday.

Stressing the need for adequate representation to the fairer sex in Parliament and State Legislatures, Naidu said that women in legislatures would help in resolving complex and sensitive socio-economic matters.

Vice President lauded the author for bringing out a book on the achievement of 50 women political leaders of the country. It will not only be useful as a reference book, but will also give inspiration to the younger generation, he said.

 

Mehbooba Mufti has been named among the powerful  women politicians. She is serving as CM of J&K since 4 April 2016 and is the first woman to hold the office. She is India’s second Muslim woman chief minister after Syeda Anwara Taimur of Assam and also heads Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Dr Hina Shafi Bhat, who presently is Chairperson (North Zone), KVIC, is a veteran dentist.

Hina Bhat was born and brought up in Srinagar. She did her schooling at Presentation Convent Srinagar and then BDS from Pune. During school days, as told to a media organization that she was known for not tolerating nonsense.

“I feel honored,” Bhat said on being listed among the powerful Women Politicians of India.
