Ganderbal: Hundreds of residents of Gagangeer village in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Monday held protests against unscheduled power cuts in the area.
Residents of Gagangeer Gund staged blocked Sgr-Leh highway at Gagangeer against Power Development Department for not ‘providing proper power supply even in the on going holy Month of Ramadhan’.
“We do not receive proper power supply as per schedule and frequent power supply become a daily affair now and electricity remains off especially in the iftar and sehri time,” the villagers said.
Residents say that the electricity department is playing a cruel joke with them ‘by not providing us electricity’.
“We have been repeatedly asking authorities to fix this problem but to no avail,” they said.
SHO Gund Syed Arif reached the spot and assured the protesters to take up their demand with PDD officials after that protests end peacefully.
