Grenade hurled on SOG Camp; Chilli sprinkled on Bank Security guard

Srinagar: Suspected militants today evening hurled grenade on SOG camp in Imam Sahab area of Shopian district, resulting in injuries to three civilians.
Sources said the militants hurled at SOG camp in Imam Sahab but it missed its target and exploded outside the camp, resulting in splinter injuries to three pedestrians. The injured were immediately rushed to the nearby hospital for treatment. Reports said soon after the attack, government forces rushed to the spot and launched searches.
Earlier, unidentified persons sprinkled chilli into eyes of a Jammu and Kashmir Bank guard in Imam Sahab area of Shopian. According to a police official, two unidentified persons sprinkled chilli powder into eyes of bank guards at Imam Sahab in Shopian district.
“The motive of the attack was not clear. The associate of the bank guard managed to save him,” he said, adding that the attackers fled from the spot without causing any further damage.
The police said that investigation has been launched into the case and a manhunt to nab the culprits is underway. “We are looking into the matter to see whether they wanted to decamp with cash or .303 guns of the bank guards,” he added. (GNS)
