Srinagar: Unknown persons on Wednesday snatched a rifle from a guard post at Kashmir University in Hazratbal, Srinagar.

Reports said that some unknown persons overpowered a policeman posted at one of the gates of Kashmir University and fled with his rifle.They said that searches have been launched in the area to nab the assailants.

Police has confirmed the incident.

“Rifle snatched from a guard post at Kashmir University near Rumi Gate which was deployed at university on deputation from Armed Police.Area being searched. Suspects are being identified.@JmuKmrPolice,” tweeted police.
