Srinagar: Four militants were killed in a gunfight with government forces in Kulgam and two of them have been identified as locals while the identity of as many others is being ascertained.
The encounter ensued after a joint team of army’s 34 RR, paramilitary CRPF and police’s SOG laid a cordon around the area in the wee hours amid “specific information” about the presence of a group of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen militants at Hardmanguri area of Khur Batpora.
“All four militant bodies have been recovered,” a police officer said. Two of the slain have been identified while the identity of as many others is being ascertained, he said.
