Mirwaiz detained while marching towards civil secretariat

Srinagar: Police Monday thwarted Mirwaiz Umar Farooq’s move to march towards civil secretariat against killings on ten persons in shopian on Sunday in an anti militancy operation.

Mirwaiz detained after trying to march towards civil secretariat against shopian killings.

Mirwaiz defied house arrest and came out of his Nigeen residence, while a police party stationed there detained him and lodged him at Nigeen police station, The spokesman said.

The Joint Resistance Leadership, comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik, has called for a peaceful sit-in outside the secretariat today.
