Srinagar: Islam doesn’t permit us to embrace death at this age, said Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Monday.

She was referring to yesterday’s militant and civilian killings in Shopian. Ten persons including five militants and five civilians were killed during anti militancy operation.

Mufti was talking to reporters after the opening of civil secretariat in Srinagar.

“Allah has sent us to Earth to live a good life. Islam doesn’t permit us to embrace death at this [young] age,” Mehbooba said.

Five civilians lost their lives after forces opened fire into protesters in Shopian yesterday who were demonstrating against the death of five militants, including to Hizb commander Saddam Padder, in Badigam village of the district.
