Shopian: Clashes erupted near the main town of Shopian district of South Kashmir on Thursday between government forces and protesters after an army vehicle passing through the areas was stone pelted.

“Scores of youth threw stones on Army vehicles moving through the main Chowk of Shopian,” reports said.

According to reports the troops used ‘force to disperse the protesters, hence triggering clashes’.

The clashes were going on when this report was filed.

Earlier cordon and Search Operation has been launched at Khanday Mohallah, Jamnagri in Shopian District.

Operation was launched by Army, CRPF and Jammu Kashmir police after receiving specific inputs about the presence of Militants presence in the area which came to end after no contact with militants was made.
