Stolen vehicle recovered, handed over to owner: Police

Srinagar, April 24: Police has recovered the stolen vehicle and handed it back to its owner, police said on Tuesday.

“On 19-04-2018, a Police Party of Police  Station Khag while conducting patrolling in general area of Khag found one unclaimed Maruti 800 vehicle without registration number in suspicious conditions and accordingly the said vehicle was seized under 550 CrPC,” police spokesman said.

Upon checking the said vehicle its engine number was found as F8BIN-3566866 and Chasis NO. as A3ECA125022549896_C6.

Police said that in order to locate the owner of the vehicle, a signal was flashed to all SHOs & DOs of the Kashmir Valley.

“On 23-04-2018, a Police Party from Police Station Batamaloo along with the owner of the vehicle identified as Riyaz Ahmad Wani son of Mohammed Yousuf Wani resident of Khomeini Chowk Bemina, approached Police Station Khag stating that he is the owner of the vehicle and  the said vehicle was stolen from Tengpora Batamaloo and a case in this regard stands registered in Police Station Batamaloo vide  FIR No. 23/2018 under section 379 RPC,” he said.

After completing legal formalities, the said vehicle was handed over to its owner at Police Station Khag.

The owner of the vehicle appreciated the efforts of police.
