Srinagar: An Army man succumbed to his injuries and another is injured during a gunfight between militants and the government forces in Lam forest area of Tral in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Tuesday.

An official said that injured army men have been identified as Ajay Kumar of 42 RR, and other belongs to territorial army adding that both the army men have been shifted to 92 Base Hospital in Srinagar for the treatment.

The exchange of fire started on Tuesday morning at Laam forest area in Tral town of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

A joint team of 42RR and Special Operations Group of Jammu and Kashmir police cordoned off the forest area of Goitango Laam village of Tral after receiving specific inputs about the presence of militants in the area.

The said as the searches were intensified, the hiding militants fired upon the forces triggering an encounter.
