Srinagar: Amid controversy over their participation in rally organized in support of accused in gruesome rape and murder, two BJP ministers Chander Prakash Ganga, industries minister and Choudhry Lal Singh, forest minister, has forwarded resignation to party president S Sharma.
Sources said that the party chief was likely to forward the resignation to governor N N Vohra.
Earlier in the day, National Conference Working President Omar Abdullah said that Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti should sack the two cabinet ministers who had supported the accused.
“Those ministers who in support of accused in Asifa case took out a rally, those ministers who threatened police and told them that enquiry should not happen in this case, those ministers who raised fingers at their own police force, those ministers who said that there is a jungle raj over here, those minters don’t have any right to stay in cabinet,” Omar said.
The former Chief Minister asked Mehbooba to act the way she acted in the case of former Finance Minister Haseeb Drabu.
“Mehbooba Mufti should act like she responded in Drabu case. I think Haseeb Drabu sahab had not done such a big crime than these two BJP ministers have done. I think if Mehbooba Mufti did bravery by sacking Drabu, today she also has to show same courage by acting against these two ministers,” he said.
