Srinagar: Incumbent Langate lawmaker Er Rasheed on Wednesday urged the Jammu and Kashmir Police to keep its promise of not withdrawing the case against army major who tied a Kashmiri civilian to a Jeep in Budgam district.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Rasheed accused the Delhi media of “disgracing and humiliating” self-respect of Kashmiris. “While Indian army just to please the Indian media and give them some cheap headlines, has tried to glorify an unlawful, immoral and unethical act, the stand taken by Inspector General of Police Kashmir has exposed the justifications of hawkish media and pseudo intellectuals over the issue.”
Rasheed said: “Though Jammu and Kashmir Police is often in the news for bad reasons but the stand taken by them over major Gogoi’s issue is appreciable.”
However, he said, police force will have to show consistency and shun the ‘yes boss’ attitude, so that justice is delivered to the victim.
Rasheed added that Indian army is losing its professionalism and the mental bankruptcy at the highest level can be judged by the fact that for the lack of argument and to encourage sensationalism, it makes its low rank officers to hold press conferences and make fabricated stories to mislead its own people.
He reminded Indian media of its praises on and often for Jammu Kashmir Police for its anti-militancy and anti-people policies and added that the radical national media would always defend even the indefensible acts of police. “if Indian media has been praising JK Police for its brutalities against its own people, it must have the courage to appreciate JK Police for lodging FIR against the sick minded arrogant army major.”
However, he said, there is every chance that Indian media would feel no shame in hatching new conspiracies against the Jammu and Kashmir police in coming days for its stand. (CNS)
