Srinagar: Police on Saturday said that several arrests were made, cash and some ammunition was recovered from Over Ground Workers of Ansar Gazwat ul Hind led by Zakir Rashid Bhat. Some of the detainees  who were to join the  militants were later released after counselling and handed over to their families.

Police said that during Naka checking Police / Army apprehended 01 Over Ground Worker (OGW) f militants, namely Rafiq Ahmad Dar S/o Ghulam Hassan Dar R/o Ghat Tukna Awantipora and recovered 01 Hand Grenade from his possession which he was about to lob upon Police / forces.
“During questioning the said OGW admitted that he is working with militant outfit Ansar Gazwatul Hind and the Grenade was given to him by militants of the Ansar Gazwatul Hind. He also stated that he along with one more OGW namely Aabid Majeed Shiekh @ Raj Gada S/o Abdul Majeed Shiekh R/o Dadsara Awantipora were given a huge amount by self style commander of Ansar Gazwatul Hind namely Zakir Rashid Bhat @ Zakir Musa to get weapons for the outfit,” police spokesman said.
“Accordingly the said Aabid Majeed @ RajGada was arrested and at his disclosure / instance a cash of Rs 5.37 Lacs was recovered from him. He also admitted that this cash was given to him by Zakir Musa to get weapons for the outfit. He also states that the amount was looted by Ansar Gazwatul Hind Terrorists from J&K Bank Noorpora and Marhama in the month of December 2017,” police claimed.
In this regard case FIR No 50/2018 U/S 7/27, 18,20,21 unlawful ( Prevention) activities act has been registered in P/S Awantipora, police said.
Moreover, six (06) youths have been apprehended by Police Awantipora, who were planning to join militant ranks were apprehended and handed over to parents after proper counseling, police added.
