Encounter between militants, govt forces in Kangan Pulwama

Pulwama: Gunfight has erupted between militants and government forces on friday in Kangan village of Pulwama district.

Earlier Cardon and search operation was launched in the area after information about presence of militants.

According to initial reports militants and government forces exchanged gunfire in open field in the area.

A police official told INS that contact between militants was established and exchange of fire has happened.

SSP Pulwama Mohd aslam choudary said that operation was launched by a joint team of army’s 55 RR, police and CRPF at Kangan orchards.

“As the joint party approached the suspected spot, the militants hiding in the area opened fire triggering off an encounter,” he said.
