Abducted man’s body found in Hajin, second such killing in 72 hours

Srinagar: Throat-slit body of a man, abducted by gunman along with his father couple of days ago, was found in Hajin area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Friday.
Manzoor Ahmad Bhat and his father Abdul Gaffar Bhat were abducted by a group of suspected LeT militants on Wednesday. Gaffar managed his escape from clutches of the abductors even as he suffered injuries due to bullets fired upon him, police had said.
Manzoor’s body was found from Bonmohalla Hajin by police and was taken into custody by it for medical-legal formalities.
This is the second case of killing after kidnapping in Hajin area in the past 72 hours. The father-son were abducted around 11:45 pm on Wednesday.
“(Militants) believed to be affiliated with LeT, barged into the house of Abdul Gaffar Bhat at Hajin in Bandipora and started to beat up people before abducting father-son duo,” the police spokesman had said.
“However, Abdul Gaffar Bhat escaped in spite being fired upon and suffering injuries,” the spokesman said. He has been hospitalised.
On Monday night, militants had abducted and later killed Nasser Ahmad alias Muntazir in the area.
