Srinagar: Stating that peace was the only way forward, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Sunday said that there was need to get on the right track “if we want to save the people of J&K.”
Mehbooba who heads the ruling PDP-BJP alliance also express anguish on the killing of five members of a family at Balakote near LoC in Ponch district as a shell fired allegedly by Pakistan landed in their house early Sunday morning.
“Anguished to hear of 5 people losing their lives in the crossfire along the LoC in the Balakote sector of Poonch. My deepest condolences to their family,” Mehbooba said in her tweet.
Nearly hour later, Mehbboba again took to twitter, urging India and Pakistan to resume dialogue for ending the bloodshed in Jammu and Kashmir.
“Peace is the only way forward. Initiatives were started by Vajpayee Ji with his Lahore bus journey & were later carried on in the same spirit by PM @narendramodi. Sadly they were sabotaged at Pathankot. We need to get on the right track if we want to save the people of J&K,” Mehbooba said.
National Conference leaders and former chief ministers of the state, Farooq Abdullah and his son Omar Abdullah express shock and grief over killing of five civilians of a single family in Poonch.
‘Dr. Farooq Abdullah, and OmarAbdullah express shock and grief over killing of five civilians of a single family in Poonch due to cross LoC shelling,” a spokesman of National Conference said here . They also reiterate appeal for immediate restoration of ceasefire. “Extend heartfelt condolences to the kith and kin of the deceased,” the father-son duo said.
