TDP pulls out of NDA over special category status for Andhra Pradesh

Andhra Pradesh: The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) on Friday officially announced its exit from the BJP-led NDA alliance, after the party and the over special category status for Andhra Pradesh, Indian Express reported.

According to report TDP president and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu spoke to members of the politburo, in an emergency meeting Friday morning, and finalised the decision.

“It also decided to move a no-confidence motion against the Narendra Modi-led government in the Lok Sabha. However, due to disruptions, the House was adjourned for the day without taking up the motion,” Indian Express reported.

 

P Ashok Gajapati Raju and Y S Chowdary, two of the TDP’s ministers from the Union Cabinet, resigned on March 8. The two union ministers had stepped down after a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modiover the AP Reorganisation Act, 2014.
