Fire leaves four families homeless, people say fire tenders turned up late

Sopore: Four families were left homeless after a fire tore apart their houses on Sunday evening at Ashpeer area of sopore of Barmulla district in northern part of Kashmir.

Sopore: Four families were left homeless after a fire tore apart their houses on Sunday evening at Ashpeer area of sopore of Barmulla district in northern part of Kashmir.

Siraj ud din peer told INS that it was 8pm, Sunday evening and preparation for his sisters engagements were going on when they saw flames emanating from living room.
“Fire spread quickly and damages are worth lacs. Gold worth lacs has been destroyed,” he said.
According to Siraj ud din cause of the fire is still unknown.

 

Another fire victims Mohamd Amin Peer alleged that a ‘minor fire incident engulfed the entire area’ as fire tenders failed to reach on time. “It only proves the irresponsible attitude of the department,” claimed local residents.

 


Additional Deputy Commissioner Sopore Khursheed Ahmed Shah told INS that we had sent a team to review situation and estimate damages.
“As per the government direction, will provide them compensation,” Shah said.
