Handwara: Scores of locals on Saturday held protest demonstration against the unavailability of Gynaecologist in Handwara hospital.
Protesters raised slogans against the health department and hospital authorities.
“We have been waiting outside since morning but gynaecologist didn’t turn up,” a protester said.
“I covered long distance to meet doctor for check up of my wife who is in severe pain since morning but instead we were forced to wait for hours outside the ward,” another protester said.
“Such approach of doctors compels us to seek and pay huge amount at private clinics, that’s all because concerned officials don’t pay heed to the sufferings of common masses,” an elderly protester said.
When contacted CMO Kupwara Dr Parladh Singh, he said, “I am in field on a visit, kindly contact medical superintendent.”
Despite repeated attempts medical superintendent Handwara couldn’t be reached.
