Govt orders fresh inquiry into traffic mismanagement on highway last year

Srinagar: The Home department headed by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has ordered fresh enquiry into the lapse or dereliction of duty by three officers, leading to mismanagement of traffic on Srinagar-Jammu Highway in January last year.
“In supersession of Government Order No. 420-Home of 2017 dated 18.04.2017, Ahfadul Mujtaba, IPS, IGP Armed, Kashmir is appointed as Inquiry Officer to conduct an enquiry into the lapse/dereliction of duty, by the (three) officers, leading to mismanagement of traffic on Srinagar-Jammu National Highway on 20th and 21st January, 2017,” reads an order issued here by the Home Department.
The officers against whom inquiry has been ordered include Sanjay Kumar Kotwal, the then SSP Traffic National Highway Ramban, presently posted as SO to IGP Armed/IRP Jammu, Safdar Hamid Hassan Samoon, the then DySP Traffic Kulgam-Qazigund, presently posted as DySP, JKAP 9th Bn and Nihar Ranjan, then DySP Traffic Banihal presently posted as DySP, Hqrs, Kishtwar.
The Inquiry Officer has been tasked to complete the enquiry and submit report alongwith recommendations to the Home Department within a period of one month.
