Srinagar: Anganwadi workers and ICDS project helpers of social welfare department held protest demonstration on Thursday at Pratap Park here seeking implementation of new pension scheme, enhancement of honorarium and fulfillment of several other demands.
The protesting female Anganwadi workers and helpers from various Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) projects in Srinagar district had assembled under the banner of J&K National Trade Union Front. They raised slogans in favour of their demands which include the “enhancement of honorarium, fixation of final seniority lists, holding of immediate DPC meeting to clear all the pending promotions of the supervisors and implementation of new pension scheme to workers and helpers”.
State President, J&K National Trade Union, Tasleema Subhaan condemned the “anti-workers policies” of government and higher authorities at ICDS.
The protesters demanded “provision of gratuity at the time of retirement at 65 years of age, implementation of free group insurance schemes”. They said the “harassment” of workers and helpers should also stop.
They threatened of starting a pen down strike if government fails to fulfill their “genuine” demands.
