Kupwara: Government on Tuesday suspended the traffic movement on the surface link connecting border town Karnah with Kupwara headquarters after fresh snowfall.
The snowfall continues in upper reaches of the frontier district while rains lashed the plains this morning.
Officials confirmed at least six inch snow had accumulated near high altitude Sadhna pass till 9 PM, Monday on the 75-Kms long road.
“It is still snowing at Sadhna pass and the traffic movement has been suspended on the road as a precautionary measure,” said Khalid Jahangir, Deputy Commissioner Kupwara.
“Traffic movement will be allowed at the high altitude road only after a good improvement in weather. Traffic is plying on all major roads in the district and electricity is supplied as per the schedule,” he added.
