Srinagar: One of the three civilians injured in alleged firing by army in Shopian has succumbed to injuries, official source said.

At least three civilians were injured in alleged army firing in Ganawpora area of Shopian district on Saturday afternoon.

Sources said that army forces came under stone pelting and fired few round, leading to injuries.

Locals said that three persons sustained injuries in firing. The youth who has succumbed has been identified as Javed Ahmad of Balpora while condition of two others—R Ahmad of Ganowpora and Rayees Ahmad of Narpora villages— is stated to be very serious.

There were protests in the area over the killing of Hizb militant Firdous Ahmad Lone, a resident of Ganowpora village. Lone was killed on Thursday in a gunfight with government forces in the district.
