Sopore: The officials at the Darul Uloom, Maharajpora, Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Monday alleged that Army on Sunday night ransacked the institution and “unleashed a reign of terror on us”.
“It was 11:30 PM Sunday when army men of 22 Rashtriya Rifles barged inside Darul Uloom. They abused us and vandalised the institute’s property,” the officials at the seminary told INS.
“We told them that we are staff members and are taking care of the institute but the soldiers didn’t listen to us and continued damaging the property and hurling abuses on us,” they said.
When contacted, the SSP Sopore Harmeet Singh Mehta said he has not received any such complaint.
A senior Army official however termed the reports as “baseless”.
Earlier in the month, Khushal Matoo residents of Sopore alleged that Army vandalised their property.
