Sopore/Handwara: Scores of first year students from government degree colleges of Handwara and Sopore in north Kashmir protested on Monday against the “unfair” evaluation of their annual examination papers. They demanded re-evaluation.
Chanting slogans against the education minister Altaf Bukhari and Kashmir University authorities, the students said there was “biased and flawed” marking of answer scripts in the 1st Semester exam of Under Graduates (Session-2016).
The protesting students demanded re-evaluation of their answer sheets and intervention of the concerned colleges and authorities.
They said about 60 percent of the students have been declared fail in one or the other subjects. “This sounds skeptical; we smell fishy,” they said.
Meanwhile, students from Sopore Degree College blocked the road outside the campus which affected the traffic movement.
Later, the traffic was restored by police.
