268839 pension cases pending: Govt

Jammu: There are 268839 pension cases pending under different categories with the department of Social Welfare Department for want of funds, Minister of State for Transport (Independent Charge), Sunil Sharma said on Friday.
He informed the Legislative Assembly that the Government was actively considering clearance of 40000 pension cases under different social schemes being implemented in Jammu and Kashmir.
Replying to a Question by Neelam Langeh on behalf of Minister for Social Welfare in the House, Sharma said that presently there are 268839 pension cases pending under different categories including, NSAP, ISSS and NFBS with the department of Social Welfare Department for want of funds and the Government is making all out efforts to clear these cases. In the first instance, 40000 cases will be cleared for which a proposal is under the consideration of Finance Department, said the Minister.
On a specific question regarding opening of new Anganwari Centres at Ramban Constituency, the Minister informed that the Government of India has sanctioned 3361 new ICDS Centres for the uncovered areas of the State, including Ramban Constituency. He said as per the norms laid down under the Scheme the process of identification of locations is underway, he added.
About inclusion of some villages of Ramban constituency in RBA category, the Minister maintained that a proposal for including nine villages namely, Bandera, Dhar-Shibgarh, Sana, Chilla, Sanasar, Thopal, Barthal, Digdol and Sencha is under the examination with the J&K State Backward Classes Commission.
Mian Altaf Ahmed, Aijaz Ahmad Mir, Vikar Rasool and Mubarak Gul raised supplementary Questions and sought concrete steps to clear the huge pendency of pension cases and maintaining transparency in the establishment of new ICDS Centres.
