New Delhi: Minister for Finance, Dr Haseeb Drabu has welcomed the decision of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) to set up its maiden office in Srinagar.
He said it is a welcome move that a leading business chamber of the country has, for the first time, decided to set up its office in Jammu and Kashmir which he said would go a long way in promoting business and investment environment in the State.
Dr Drabu also welcomed FICCI Secretary General Sanjaya Baru’s assertion that FICCI’s J&K partnership initiative will focus on areas like tourism, food processing and skill development to begin with and will hand-hold the industry in doing business in the State.
The Finance Minister assured full support of the State Government to FICCI in setting up and running its office in the State.
He said J&K has already embarked on various initiatives to promote industrial growth in the State and one of these initiatives includes labour law reforms. He said the State Government is also improving infrastructure to facilitate industrial growth in the State.
