Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Anganwari workers on Wednesday staged a protest demonstration here, demanding regularization as well as enhancement in their salaries.
Many Anganwari workers assembled outside press colony here, raising anti-government slogans.
The protests followed Finance Minister’s statement that state was nothing to do with Asha and Anganwari workers as they are Center-sponsored employees.
“We have been working from last 35 years, on a meagre salary, despite working regularly, authorities never listened to our pleas,” said a protestor.
Another protester said: “We want our children to get education in a good school but government is paying us low wages in which we can’t even manage to get the basic necessities.”
“We have worked for the state but it is so unfortunate that we are being neglected by the government.”
