Srinagar: Boys on Tuesday outperformed girls as 62.94 students were declared success in class 10th examinations conducted by the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE).
Of the total students who wrote exams, 63.33 % boys were declared qualified compared to 62.52 percentage for the fairer gender.
JKBOSE official said that a total of 69056 students, 35997 among the boys, appeared in the class 10 exams held in mid November last year.
Of them, 43464 qualified the exam while 25542, 13164 boys and 12378 girls, failed.
Insha Mushtaq, pellet victim who lost both her eyes in the unrest of 2016 qualified the examination.
“Results are beyond our expectation, we are very happy. She will continue her studies and will take Science as her future subject. We too want to see her in medical uniform soon,” said Mushtaq Ahmad Lone, Insha’s father. “Whole Kashmir is happy with her results. I am getting phone calls after every second. I am thankful to people of Kashmir for showing this concern.”
Insha was also congratulated by former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Hurriyat Conference Chairman Mirwaiz Umer Farooq. They wished her success in future.
chairperson JKBOSE,, Veena Pandit told to INS that board has decided not to declare toppers this time, as students are “happy and we don’t want this topper tag will ruin happiness and joy of student.”
“All the students worked hard and had shined with good grades. We don’t want to declare topper, as it sometimes prove to be hurdle in joy of those students who loose topper position by two or three grades. So let the students enjoy their happiness. My best wishes are with them,” she said.
