Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (G) Chairman Syed Ali Geelani on Saturday demanded impartial investigation by United Nations sponsored war crime tribunal into all “gruesome massacres” in Jammu and Kashmir.
Paying rich tributes to the victims of Sopore massacres on their 25th anniversary, Geelani said that silence by international community over these gruesome and heart wrenching incidents was painful and their tall claims and rhetoric for their fight against “state sponsored terrorism proved mere hoax.”
“The spirits and courage of people of occupied state are commendable as during all this period they faced the worst situations at the hands of Indian armed forces. We are duty-bound to safeguard all the sacrifices offered by people,” said Geelani.
The octogenarian leader said people are being killed on “mere pretext and in fake encounters”.
“Indian armed forces were committing serious war crimes in Jammu and Kashmir. The common man in Kashmir will continue to suffer till the international community takes serious action in this regard,” Geelani said and demanded investigation by the United Nations sponsored war crime tribunal.
He said great nations never forget their martyrs and they continue their struggle for which the martyrs have sacrificed their lives. He reiterated that the Kashmiris would not compromise on their mission.
