Sopore: A group of girls from Sopore on Thursday rejected Bharatiya Janata Party’s claims of being its ‘Mahila Morcha workers’, claiming that they were shocked to see their pictures on social media as the ruling party members clicked their photographs after posing to be from social welfare department and offered them livelihood benefits under SWD.
The girls told INS that their photographs were “misused” on social media by BJP with the tag that they had joined party.
“On Wednesday, a team came at our village, Tarzoo Sopore, claiming to be from Social Welfare Department (SWD) and assured to provide us tailoring center and benefits under various schemes so that we can earn our livelihood,” they said.
However, they said, the visiting team clicked photographs and “told us that these pictures will be used for official record.”
On Wednesday evening, they said, “we were shocked on seeing our photographs doing rounds on the social media with BJP claiming to have joined the party and being its Mahila Morcha workers”.
“This is direct attack on our dignity. On the name of social welfare department they clicked our photographs and misused them,” they said.
The grills said once the team visited their village, “we thought this is a welcome step towards this backward area and especially for girls as we don’t have job opportunities and we thought it will be better for us to help our family through this tailoring centre.”
“When we came to know that the team was actually from BJP and cheated with us in the name of Social Welfare Department, we were shocked”.
