Srinagar: Chairman Hurriyat Conference Syed Ali Geelani on Monday strongly condemned passage of bill in Indian parliament on criminalising ‘triple talak’ and Prime Minister Narendra Modi announcement that Muslim women can travel for Haj without ‘Mahram’.
“The attempts by India to change the Islamic laws are total interference with the religion which is unacceptable to any Muslims,” Geelani said in a statement issued here.
The octogenarian leader said that ruling ‘fascist’ regime was “rapidly” on its way to make India as a “Hindu Rashtra.”
“First its target is Muslims and then they will attack other minorities. The second reason for India to attack the virtuous religion of Islam is its fast growing spread, both globally as well as within India,” he said.
He also urged Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to “strong note” and “prevail over India” against making any change in the Islamic laws.
