Srinagar: A 20-year-old labourer died after he allegedly consumed admixture, rapidite, used in cold weather concreting at Chattergul Kangan in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Thursday.
Reports said that the labourer Irfan Ahmed Ganie son of Abdul Rashid Ganie of chatergul Kangan, sucked the admixture from a plastic can. While other labours advised him to rush to hospital, Irfan had a tea with them before he fell unconscious, reports said. He was later rushed to SKIMS Soura where he died.
When contacted SHO Kangan Manzoor Ahmad told INS said Irfan the rapidite by mistake at work.
He was rushed to SKIMS Soura but he breathed his last at the hospital, he said.
Police have taken cognizance of the incident and started preliminary inquest proceedings, the officer added.
