Srinagar: Deputy commissioner Ganderbal Dr. Piyush Singla on Thursday conducted extensive tour of many areas of the central Kashmir district.
During the tour, he inspected the functioning of winter coaching centre at Higher Secondary School Wakura and also enquired about the facilities being provided to the students.
He directed the concerned Tehsildar to inspect the coaching centres to ensure arrangements including the availability of heating and lighting for the students.
He also visited PHC Wakura and took stock of functioning and availability of medicines and other basic facilities during the winter.
The deputy commissioner also paid surprise visit to curb the illegal extraction of sand from Nallah Sindh at various places of Dab-Batpora.
During the visit, he directed concerned to seize JCBs on spot and directed the police to lodge FIR against the violators.
Piyush Singla asked officers to preserve the ecology of Nallah Sindh and take all steps to arrest illegal sand extraction. He also asked them to take stringent action against the violators.
