Jammu: State is at the cross roads of its history, National Conference said as it vowed to fight “tooth and nail” the elements inimical to time tested singular entity and inclusiveness of Jammu and Kashmir
“The state is at the cross roads of its history with PDP-BJP dispensation unleashing canards against those believing in inclusiveness and subjecting people to unprecedented misgovernance” said General Secretary Ali Mohammed Sagar as he exuded confidence that politically sagacious people of the three regions will isolate those trying to divide them on religious and regional basis.
Addressing senior party functionaries, including district presidents and secretaries of the Jammu region at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhavan here this afternoon, Sagar said that the three regions of the state have distinct urges and aspirations which had to be preserved and respected. “This is what National Conference believes and endeavours to maintain by fighting forces, having no regard for this unique feature of the state”, he said, adding that the people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh were feeling betrayed due to anti-poor and anti-youth policies of the present dispensation. He said despite three and half years in power, the PDP and BJP coalition is struggling to put its act together after plunging the state into political and administrative crisis.
The General Secretary exhorted the cadre to gear up for meeting the challenges confronted to the state and steering it out of the morass. He said development has taken nose dive and administrative paralysis was adding up to the miseries of the people, who are suffering on account due to rising prices, poor utility services and lack of accountability among those governing the state.
“To hide its failures, the PDP-BJP government has resorted to diversionary and sinister tactics of engineering communal divide, which unfold a huge challenge to people, who should unite and foil these machinations unitedly by maintaining time-tested harmony and amity”, the General Secretary said, adding that in such a situation National Conference has a crucial role to bridge the gap as per the party’s glorious legacy. He said division in the society is being perpetrated to further the interests of those who are thriving on divide and rule.
Speaking on the occasion, Provincial President Devender Singh Rana asked the cadre to close their ranks and gear up for meeting the challenges unleashed by the PDP-BJP government.
Rana accused the coalition dispensation of pushing Jammu and Kashmir to backwards by putting a halt to the developmental initiatives taken by the previous Mr Omar Abdullah led government.
Blaming the BJP for playing politics of divide and sowing seeds of mistrust, Mr Rana cautioned against testing the spirit of inclusiveness of the people, saying those believing in unity in diversity will foil all their machinations. He referred to exploitive politics being pursued by the BJP and said as long the people will remain united, nobody can weaken their resolve.
Rana recalled the enormous role of National Conference during most testing times in keeping the flag of Hindu, Muslim, Sikh unity aloft.
“We have to keep this spirit alive”, he said and urged the party workers to take pledge to spread the message of communal amity and brotherhood in every locality.
