DODA: The work on construction of a bridge in Goila area of Khara in Inderwal constituency, which was going on at snail’s pace for the last 7 years, has now been suspended, causing inconveniences among the people.
The inhabitants blame the lackadaisical approach of authorities for putting the project in limbo.
“The foundation stone for the construction of the bridge was laid in 2011 but the project is yet to get completed,” the residents of Khara, Trankhal, Rajin, Hija, Bhola and its adjoining areas told INS, adding, “The work has been suspended.”
“We have faced a lot of difficulties in commuting due to slow pace of construction work on the bridge. Now suspension has added to our woes,” they added.
The people of the area said the apathetic attitude of authorities has shaken their political faith and they feel they are being deliberately ignored.
“If government has completed other development works which were taken up along with our bridge, then why is this bridge work lingering on for last several years,” they said and demand the construction work be completed at the earliest.
MLA Inderwal G M Saroori said he is personally monitoring the construction work of the bridge. “Only 15 percent work is pending and it will be completed soon,” he said.
