Srinagar, Dec 20: Authorities have imposed restrictions in parts of Srinagar to thwart any protests after Friday prayers called by the joint resistance leadership (JRL) on Thursday.
The JRL had called for protests against the “the killing of civilians, indiscriminate use of pellets, vandalising properties, (killing of) two women who left behind two infants, and blinding innocent youth”.
While Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani continues to be under house arrest, Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was detained at his Nigeen residence on Thursday night. JKLF chief Muhammad Yasin Malik was also detained.
