Tral: With just two fire dousing buses and seven employees, the fire and emergency services station in Tral area of Pulwama district caters to 116 villages. Officials say they are mulling to establish another station.

Employees at the station told INS that the area must have at least three fire brigade stations. They say the number of personnel is also too low.

“We are only seven persons here for around 116 villages with two vehicles. While we work hard to best of our abilities, we do face difficulties in reaching the spots far from the station,” an employee wishing anonymity said.

“The present station should also be upgraded,” the employees said.

Residents of the area have same demands – the addition of at least two stations. “Had there been few more fire stations, the fire that broke out in Panner Jagir village of the town some days back could have been controlled on time,” they said.

“If there were stations at, for instance, Aripal and Dadasara, many houses and cowsheds would have been saved,” Chairman Citizens Council, Tral Farooq Trali told INS.

Assistant Director Fire and Emergency Services, R.K. Raina said, “The department has took note of the problem and has sanctioned establishing of another station.”
