KU holds conference on ‘pure and applied mathematics’

Srinagar, Dec 19: The University of Kashmir on Tuesday organised a national-level conference on pure and applied mathematics.
The day-long conference was organised by the Department of Mathematics in collaboration with the Kashmir Mathematical Society.
HoD Mathematics Prof MH Gulzar delivered the keynote address in honour of the great mathematician S. Ramanujan.
Dr MA Khanday, organising secretary of the conference, said that at least 50 research scholars and faculty members from various academic institutions presented their research work on different topics on (or related to) pure and applied mathematics.
Dr BA Zargar gave the brief introduction of the Department of Mathematics while Prof W M Shah, Dean Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Central University of Kashmir highlighted the main objectives of the Kashmir Mathematical Society.
The conference was organised on the eve of National Day of Mathematics, celebrated every year on December 22.  Dr M A Mir presented the vote of thanks.
