Srinagar: Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) has called for complete shutdown on Wednesday across the Kashmir Valley to protest against the killing of three civilians, two of the women, in firing by government forces.
In a statement issued here on Tuesday, the JRL comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik appealed for a complete strike in Kashmir against the killings of Misra Bano, Asif Iqbal and Beauty Jan.
Beauty Jan (24) was latest victim and was killed on Tuesday after being hit by a bullet fired by government forces to disperse protesters near the site of gunfight in Shopian.
Bano was killed during an encounter between militants and government forces in Younso village of Handwara on December 11. Police had said that the woman was killed in “cross-fire” after she tried to escape from the house where three militants were trapped.
Iqbal, a sumo driver was killed in alleged army firing in Thandipora village of Kupwara on Saturday night. While police filed an FIR, army has claimed that the driver was killed in “cross-fire”.
