Mirwaiz released after 10 days of house arrest, visits Gojwara fire victims

Srinagar: Chairman of Hurriyat Conference (M) Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was on Saturday released after ten days of house arrest, a spokesman of the amalgam said in a statement issued here.
Soon after his release, Mirwaiz visited Gojwara area of downtown to take the stock of the damage caused by the deadly blaze on the Friday night.
The fire left a building of Muslim Wakf Board building housing nearly two dozen shops completely damaged resulting in the loss of crores of rupees. The affected shopkeepers briefed Mirwaiz about the nature of losses.
Stressing on the need of immediate rehabilitation of the shopkeepers who lost their source of livelihood, Mirwaz urged carious NGOs and the Wakf Board to take measures so that the affected shopkeepers start their business afresh.
Meanwhile, Mirwaiz expressed his heartfelt condolences on the demise of mother of Zahir ud Din, the senior Editor at Greater Kashmir. While extending his solidarity and sympathies with the bereaved family, Mirwaiz prayed for highest standards in janah for the deceased.
