Police says 3 persons arrested with banned notes worth Rs 13.65 lakhs

Srinagar: Police on Tuesday said it arrested three persons for carrying demonitised currency worth over rupees thirteen lakhs.
“Police Station Nigeen during a surprise naka checking at Ashai-bagh in Srinagar apprehended three persons namely Bashir Ahmad Khan son of Mohammad Sultan of Batamaloo, Showket Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Mohammad of Pampore and Bashir Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Qadir of Panthachowk Srinagar and demonitised currency of Rs. 1363500 ( Thirteen lakh , Sixty three thousands & Five hundred) was recovered from their possession,” a police spokesman said. .
Accordingly, the spokesman said cognizance was taken under “the specified bank notes (Cessation of Liabilities) Act 2017 and further investigation was taken
