Ganderbal: Protesters block road, demand repair transform quickly

Ganderbal: Protesting locals and Shopkeepers of  Duderhama Ganderbal Saturday blocked Beehama-Safapora road near SDH hospital Ganderbal against the Power Development Department (PDD) for failing to provide proper electricity in the area.

According to local the transformer 630 kv, which, according to theme is damaged for the third time in the period of one month.

Demanding immediate installation of transformer in the area, protesting men and woman accused PDD of callous approach.

The traffic on the road was not let go by the protesters.

DySP Akash kholi along who is also incharge SHO Ganderbal, assured people of raising the issue with concerned authorities.

After the promise to redress their grievances protesters dispersed peacefully.

EXN PDD Ganderbal Javeed Ahmad however complained that it is due to overloading that the transformer of the area has once again faced problems.

“The power agreements from the area are of 80kv while as the transformer is 630 kva. Now you can understand how much overloading is happening from the area. We will install the transformer in two three days. However if people don’t mend their ways it will again develop snags,” he said.
