Sopore town: MLA installed street lights without light, irks people

Sopore Nov 29: Sopore residents are irked with defunct street lights installed by the Member of Legislative Assembly in collaboration with the Municipal Council, authorities promise to redress the problem.

According to locals MLA Sopore Abdul Rashid Dar installed 115 Street lights in main town in collaboration with Municipal Council.

“Not only are the newly installed lights defunct but the old street lights too are not working,” locals complained.

The residents also claimed that they have ‘several times brought the issue to the notice of concerned officials but to no avail.’

Executive Officer Municipal Council Sopore, Mohammad Miteen  told INS that he has been ‘recently posted’ but promised action soon.

“I will look into it and take necessary action,” Miteen said.
