Says ‘miscreants’ played ‘prank’ to create disturbance; case registered
Srinagar:  Police on Sunday said that no braid chopping incident took place in Bohri Kadal and “some miscreants” played prank to create “law and order” situation in the Old City area.  A police spokesman quoted elders who he said told cops “on the condition of anonymity” that “no braid chopping incident took place.”
“One alleged braid chopping incident at Bohrikadal has been doing rounds since the morning which turned out to be a prank played by some miscreants to create the law & order problem,” the police spokesman said.
He said “some miscreants” blocked road near Bohrikadal and started pelting stones on police party. They were alleging that braid chopping has occurred in the locality, he said.
“Police dispersed the mob and tried to ascertain the facts regarding the incident. Few elders of the locality on conditions of anonymity revealed to police that no braid chopping took place and the incident seems to be a part of the conspiracy hatched by some miscreants to breach the of law and order.”
The spokesman said that an FIR has been lodged against “rumour mongers and other miscreants” in Police Station M.R. Gunj under relevant sections of penal code.
