Srinagar: A large number of fish were spotted ashore Jhelum Lake in Safakdal and adjacent areas, sparking fears that the waters had been “poisoned.”  However, district administration swiftly reacted to the situation to allay the fears. “We have taken water samples as well as the samples of fish. Most of the fish washed up ashore are not dead, suggesting prima facie absence of a poisonous substance,” said Deputy Commissioner Srinagar said Syed Abid Rasheed Shah.
