Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Sunday reiterated that Kashmir issue was human and political issue and that can’t be resolved by “military might and killing people.”
“It is unfortunate that the Government of India continues with its iron fist policy in Kashmir to muzzle the genuine struggle while as all tools are being employed to change the basic nature of the long pending dispute,” Mirwaiz said while strongly condemned the killing of a civilian at Gulzar Ahmed Mir Litter, Pulwama in force’s firing and leaving dozens of other civilians seriously injured.
“Kashmir issue is known to the world community and no ploys can change its nature and its resolution is highly inevitable for the everlasting peace in the sub-continent and South Asia.”
He said in past many efforts were made to change the “dispute nature of Kashmir but all such moves failed and will continue to fail as world community including UN was witness that there are numerous pending resolutions in UNSC which guarantees the right to self determination to people of Kashmir.”
Mirwaiz said that since past 30 years, government forces have been committing “heinous crimes while worst form of human rights violations has taken place under a well-planned conspiracy in Kashmir.”
He said the “genocide” of Kashmiri people was being carried out in the name of bringing so-called ‘peace’.
“The innocent persons will continue to get killed as long as Indian forces enjoy unbridled powers and the dispute on Kashmir remains unresolved.”
Meanwhile, Mirwaiz paid glorious tributes to the LeT cadres, Waseem Shah and Nasir Mir, who were killed in a gunfight at Litter Pulwama. He said people of Kashmir are committed to the cause of “freedom and will not rest till the ongoing movement is taken forward.”
